Temple University School of Pharmacy (TUSP) is seeking an innovative and collaborative thought leader to motivate and direct the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The Chair is responsible for providing professional leadership and opportunities for development and creating an environment that fosters creativity in teaching, clinical practice, service, research and scholarship for the faculty in the Department.
As a recognized leader, this individual will advance pharmacy practice to align with institutional, regional, and national priorities while maintaining a strong commitment to academic excellence. The preferred candidate will have the ability to enhance the national reputation of the school by cultivating clinical and/or educational research, enhancing post-graduate training programs, and implementing best practices in pharmacy education.
TUSP is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion and has implemented a dynamic curriculum utilizing a variety of innovative teaching techniques. Faculty members have access to state-of-the-art facilities, services, and various technologies to assist them in developing active learning pedagogies. The School supports one PGY1 and four PGY2 residencies and two industry fellowship positions. The School’s location on our Health Sciences Campus provides abundant opportunities to collaborate with other health professional educators, clinicians, and researchers. Faculty members are engaged in teaching, mentoring, research, and collaborative relationships with colleagues in the Katz School of Medicine, the Kornberg School of Dentistry, the School of Podiatric Medicine, and the Temple University Hospital and Health System. TUSP houses a pharmacokinetics and bioanalysis facility, the Jayne Haines Center for Pharmacogenomics and Drug Safety, a cGMP facility, a proteomics facility, and the Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research.
Minimum qualifications include: a PharmD degree from an accredited college or university, at least one year of residency, specialty or fellowship training, or equivalent clinical experience, a minimum of 5 years of administrative experience or a background that demonstrates leadership skills, and 10 years of faculty experience in an accredited College/School of Pharmacy. The preferred appointment will be at the Professor level although candidates at the Associate Professor level will be considered based on individual qualifications.
