Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor, Pharmacy (tenure-track). This full-time, tenure track position is a 12-month appointment. The individual in this position will contribute to teaching, service, and scholarship supporting the mission and vision of McWhorter School of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmaceutical Social and Administrative Sciences. Teaching responsibilities include didactic in the required curriculum with opportunities to teach electives. The successful candidate will provide didactic teaching, develop high-impact scholarly works, submit extramural grants to support high-impact scholarship, contribute to committee service, and complete other duties as assigned. This full-time appointment is expected to begin October, 2021.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree in medicinal chemistry or related degree from a nationally accredited institution (or equivalent). Related degrees must be from an accredited U.S. school of pharmacy and these individuals will also have a postdoctoral fellowship or relevant industry experience. Preference given to candidates who have a strong record of research/scholarship and potential for funded research. The successful candidate will have a track record of teaching and research commensurate with appointment to the rank of assistant or associate professor at Samford University. Academic rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications, previous teaching involvement, and research and scholarship accomplishments.

The successful individual must exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management and organization skills, and attention to detail. The candidate must also embrace the interprofessional teaching model of the College of Health Sciences and student-centered teaching of the McWhorter School of Pharmacy.

The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, School of Health Professions, and School of Public Health. The college offers multiple degree programs and majors within the health sciences with an interprofessional education focus that reflects today’s team approach to healthcare delivery and professional practice.
