The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics at The University of Iowa invites applications for tenure track twelve-month Assistant/Associate/Full Professor faculty positions in Physical Pharmacy. Qualified applicants will establish, or will have established, a distinguished research program in physical pharmacy. Rank of appointment, with or without tenure, will be based on the qualifications of the candidate. Applicants at the Associate/Full Professor level will be evaluated for appointment as the Palepu-Flanagan Professor in Physical Pharmacy. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field. A successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a nationally recognized research program through securing external research funding and demonstrating an exceptional record of published scholarship. Candidates whose research interests complement existing expertise in the department as it applies to design and formulation of novel drug delivery systems are strongly encouraged to apply.
A successful candidate will also have a genuine passion for student instruction as well as graduate education, and will be expected to contribute to the professional, graduate and undergraduate teaching programs resident in the College of Pharmacy. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics currently consists of 20 faculty members, and more than 60 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and visiting scientists who participate in the educational and research programs within the department. The College of Pharmacy is home to The University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals, which is the largest and most experienced university-affiliated FDA-registered pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the United States developing, manufacturing, and testing sterile and non-sterile dosage forms. UIP has a 40-year history of successful drug product development services and has been instrumental in the development of numerous, currently- marketed prescription drug products.
