Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Position in Pharmaceutical Evaluation & Policy
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
College of Pharmacy

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy invites applications for a 12-month, tenure track faculty position in the Division of Pharmaceutical Evaluation & Policy (PEP). This position is available immediately, and the successful candidate's experience and qualifications will determine the appointment as an assistant, associate, or full professor.

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will be to develop a new or integrate an existing extramurally funded independent research program with PEP, teach in the graduate and professional programs, provide graduate student mentorship, and provide service to the college, university, and profession. Applicants must have a PhD in a health-related field focused on economics, epidemiology, health outcomes, health policy, biostatistics, informatics, or implementation science.

PEP engages in impactful research to inform health policy, improve health care delivery, and enhance outcomes for diverse populations. Our division collaborates with state, national, and international leaders to evaluate and guide policy development, focusing on pharmaceuticals, pharmacy services, and health system innovations. PEP faculty conduct rigorous research in areas such as health economics, comparative effectiveness research, patient-reported outcomes, epidemiology, and health policy analysis.

PEP’s graduate program equips students with advanced analytic skills to address pressing issues in health care. Graduates are prepared for successful careers in health economics and outcomes research across industries, academia, managed care organizations, healthcare payers, and government sectors. The curriculum emphasizes evaluating pharmaceutical effectiveness, value, and safety, aligning with competencies in pharmacy administration, social and administrative sciences, pharmaceutical outcomes and policy, and health services research. By fostering innovation and collaboration, the division contributes to advancing health care practices and policies at all levels.

UAMS is Arkansas’ only comprehensive academic health center, integrating five colleges—Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Professions, Public Health—and a Graduate School and offering exceptional opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration. The main campus is in Little Rock, with a regional campus in Northwest Arkansas. UAMS is home to several distinguished research institutes, including the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, Arkansas’ only academic cancer research and treatment center; the Translational Research Institute, a Clinical and Translational Science Award program, which accelerates the translation of research into health care advancements; and the Psychiatric Research Institute, specializing in psychiatric disorders and housing centers like the Center for Health Service Research. UAMS also emphasizes entrepreneurial innovation through UAMS Bioventures, which facilitates the commercialization of inventions and services developed by its researchers. As the state’s largest public employer, UAMS is committed to improving health care in Arkansas and beyond through education, research, and clinical excellence.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest highlighting research and teaching philosophies and a curriculum vitae via email to the PEP director, Jacob T Painter, PharmD, MBA, PhD: jtpainter@uams.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately. Applicants may contact Dr. Painter for further information via email or at 501-686-7123.
