Leigh's research interests revolve around pharmacy education and in particular qualifying and quantifying the interaction between preceptors and undergraduate students in the pharmacy experiential setting. Many of the outcomes from this research have been used to better understand and inform teaching and learning practices in experiential education.
Further research is planned in this area, particularly the application of a learning community approach to both undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy education
