Dr. Covvey earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky in 2010, and then completed residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCUHS) in 2011. She subsequently passed her board certification in pharmacotherapy and was selected as a recipient of a Fulbright grant to complete a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences in Scotland. Her Ph.D. research focused on the use of routinely collected clinical data for quality improvement in the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).\n\nDr. Covvey\'s research interests are broad, and relate widely to the intersection between research and clinical practice. She is particularly interested in antibiotic utilisation, medication adherence in chronic disease, quality improvement in prescribing and the effects of socioeconomic deprivation in healthcare. She completed a teaching and learning certificate while at VCUHS and is highly supportive of student development and expanding opportunities/involvement in internationalisation.
