My research focuses on Parkinson’s disease, which is the second most common neurodegenerative disease and a leading cause of disability and reduced quality of life among the aged population. In particular, the goal of my research is to define cellular mechanisms responsible for disease pathogenesis, including (but not limited to) inflammation, protein aggregation, transport defects, and energy dysregulation. The ultimate objective of this work is to discover novel targets for the prevention and/or treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
