Duarte’s research interests include genomic underpinnings of both disease development and drug response in heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. His NIH-funded laboratory conducts translational research, attempting to discover genomic predictors of drug response, as well as using genomics to identify novel targets for future drug development. He has served on Department of Defense grant review committees and is also a member of the Leadership Committee of the Council for Functional Genomics and Translational Biology within the American Heart Association
